Harun nearly jumped out of his skin, and evidently so did Maryl. His hand snapped to the keypad and the humming died down, his hand shaking. "What are you..." he whispered. The trio had begun to attract an audience: various white-coated physicists had begun to stare at them from their desks. One stood up abruptly and gave a slight shreik when Markus produced his knife. She had not seen him teleport. If she had, the scream would have been considerably louder. Harun pressed a small intercom button and, staring stonily, yet apologetically, at Markus, called for security.
He knew full well the security guards were already dead. Markus had more skill and knowledge than the entire department put together, he decided. There was more sense in taking the side of the erratic Polaran than the dull, comparatively primitive Exophysicists. This was not the time to show this to Maryl though.
"Security. An armed man has entered the building and is currently threatening Professor Maryl. Assistance is required immediately."

"its pointless Harun. Nobody is coming to help." Markus saw the look on Harun's face and forced himself to suppress a chuckle. "oh don't look at me like that, they're not dead or if they are, then i didn't do it". at that point markus relaxed as though he was waking up from a dream. "huh, what happened here, everyone looks scared. uh-oh, my reflexes kicked in again." he turned to face his friend and smiled. "Um, Harun, i seem to have caused some bother here for which i apologize. can you apologize to moody Maryl for me when he wakes up as well", he said as he nodded towards the passed out professor*. "well then, see you at home". With that he ran through the double doors and into the hallway. Harun ran into the hallway after him* but he had already teleported away probably not wanting the exophysicists to see him poof away.

Harun saw Maryl's head hit the table and was startled. The buy was good, but insolent. Maryl wouldn't be best pleased. He would take some convincing of the kid's "apology."
Out in the hallway, there was no sign of Markus. Harun cursed to himself, and ran back into the lab. He had an idea. He began to shred the keypad of the grey box known as the Manipulator. It was set to Sirian mode, and before long a small hologram appeared above the box. The Physics Department always appeared as a dark redspot on the scanner, but everywhere else was almost constantly grey. Nobody else in England was using exophysics. And red spots were always simple anomalies, fluctuations.
But there was a new red spot, today. And it was on the move. Harun removed the power cell from the desk and attached it to the manipulator, picking it up with some difficulty and loading it into his car outside. The car screamed at him as he applied the accelerator, and began to pursue the dark red spot.

Markus re-materialized inside Harun's living room and immediately fell over onto the sofa he had slept on the night before. he hated teleporting. it always left him with a feeling of nausea. well that hadn't gone exactly according to plan, but in retrospect it could've gone worse. at least he hadn't killed anyone this time. nothing to do now but wait for Harun to come home. at least then he could explain what and why what happened happened.

The red dot on the screen of the manipulator darted for a few seconds. Harun swore under his breath; markus had clearly teleported. Having read the manipulator's manual, it wasn't great at tracking teleports. It would take at least five minutes to recalibrate itself. Harun pulled into the nearest layby and placed his head into his hands. Three days. How in the world had he ever got himself into this. After just three days.
The red dot darted for a little while longer, before settling itself on the map. It would fade soon, unless Markus continued to use exophysics. But then he noticed something. The dot had come to rest over his own house.
"The cheeky beggar," he said, and engaged the clutch. He drove as fast as he could before the kid got into any trouble.
